22nd December 2006 - Our Big Day...

Well, I now know why they call it a BIG DAY: big church, big crowd, big nerves, big cake, and BIG COSTS! Despite all this – we loved every minute of it!
It was so special and sweet and it felt like quite the fairy tale. The whole day flew by with joy and laughter and precious little unforgettable moments. The rain had threatened to join the party – as it rained all morning – but praise God it stopped as the bride was getting out of the car – not to be seen again until the drive to the honeymoon!! The ceremony at Oxford Terrace Baptist Church led by Andrew Hill, wasn’t too nerve-racking. The richness of the traditional vows, the worship, and the message of 1 Corinthians 13, made for the best church service we’d ever been to (no bias)! We had a fun afternoon of photographs outside the church, by the beach, at the park, and then at Gethsemane Gardens – where we held our evening reception. If you’ve not been there – it’s definitely worth a visit (well if you’re from the UK – you could just check the website: http://www.gethsemanegardens.co.nz/). They have built a 3 storey ark – as in Noah’s Ark in their gardens! We held our evening meal in the purpose built ballroom – including the usual emotional speeches, a visit from Father Christmas and the first dance “Come What May” (Moulin Rouge). What an awesome day! We were so pleased to have so many friends and family join us on our big day – including 12 special peeps who flew over from England! Thanks to all who gave us cards and gifts – we’re so humbled by your generosity (sorry to those who haven’t received a thank you card – some presents didn’t have cards/names attached). Praise God for technology, for we can re-live that day many times over with our video! (if you missed our big day – maybe you can see it too).
